Use the format that fits the job.

Rastry supports the same three formats for input and output today. These notes explain what each one is good at and show the exact conversion shape.

Use JPEG for opaque photographic images where adjustable lossy compression is useful.

PNG

Use PNG when lossless pixels and transparency are more important than the smallest file.

Use WebP for compact web delivery with optional transparency and adjustable quality.

Supported format guards are defined in the shared contracts package.
